GENERAL- COMMITTEE MEETING
A meeting of the General Committee of the Egmont A. and P. Association was held this, afternoon. There, were present Messrs S. C. Tonks (chairman), R. McCav, N. Crocker, J. Eerrisk. B. C. Lysaglit, J. Salmon, E. Death. F. Mills, jun.r., A. Lankowr W. MeL’Dowie, A. J- Haseltine, J. S'. T. Short, P. Bremer. H. E. Johnson, D. Crocker, A. E. Death, and M. C. Crighton (secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs J. Forbes, T. Wilson, C. H. Washer and J. D. Sc-ott, COW CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSES. The secretary of the New Zealand Friesian Association advised that at the annual meeting, held on June, 17, the following resolution had been adopted: “That it be a, recommendation from this meeting to all' A. and P. associations that dry cows, if visibly- in calf, should be eligible to compete in championship classes.” Oir the motion of Messrs McL’Dowie and Mills, junr., the recommendation was adopted. BULLOCK RIDING CONTEST.
The chairman reported, that an offer had been received to organise, a, bullock riding contest as a side attraction to the competitions at the next show. “Some were sober and perhaps some were not, but there Were, plenty of riders, much excitement, and it proved highly popular,” said Mr Johnson, in referring to a similar competition, he bail recently seen at Christchurch. After some discussion the executive committee was authorised' to confer with the. Amateur Athletic Club with a view to arranging for the inclusion of such an event on the evening programme of the "first day T .

A report of negotiations opened by the South Taranaki Motor Trade Association for the arrangement or a motor gymkhana on the second day of the forthcoming show was given by the chairman.
It was decided to offer to permit arrangement of the gymkhana on, the afternoon of the first day. DAYLIGHT SAVING OPPOSED. The Dominion secretary of the, New Zealand Farmers’ Union wrote advising the [union’s opposition to the Daylight Saving Bill, as it was considered that such a law would prove: harmful to dairy farmers. The secretary requested that if the association was also against the Bill becoming law it should telegraph a protest to the Hon. E. Newman, M.L.C., as soon as possible.
No response was given to the chairmen’s inquiry if a discussion on the subject was required, and on, the motion. of Mr E. A. Washer it was decided to telegraph, the protest as requested. MEMBERSHIP.
Air T. J. Tiller (Hawera) was Elected to membership. Resignations were received from Messrs E. J. Nash, F. MeCalman, and H. P. F. Malone. GENERAL. The proposal to hold a stock drive was deferred for a month for further consideration. The data of the evening horse parade was fixed for September 18.. The bon. organiser of the Empire Week Committee (Mr L. O. Honker) wrote thanking; ftlhie (association: for courtesies extended. A letter expressing appreciation of | the act ion of the association in allowing the use of the Showgrounds and buildings for the recent camp of the Mounted Rifles was received from the adjutant of the regiment. The chairman reported tha t a small amount- of damage to stalls had been done bv the horses, but the cost of repairs was being defto.yed by the defence authorities.

conjunction with the Egmont Association was discussed, and the chairmm reported that tip finance had been arranged.
