MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING.

The Management Committee of the Taranaki Rugby Union met at Stratford 1 Jast evening. There werei present : Messrs J. McLeod (chairman), J. J. Goodwin, J. Paterson, W. A. Guy, F. M. Whyte, A. O. Casey, H. Spurdie, R. R. Tyrer, L. J. Furrie, W. H. Moves, J. Garcia, and S. E. Nielson (secretary). AY ELLINGTON GAME.

Further consideration was given to correspondence received from the. AVellington Union with reference to the game at Wellington on September IS, from which Taranaki had asked to be excused, as the contemplated .southern tour had to be abandoned: this season.

Luring a, lengthy discussion it was pointed out that the finances of _ the union were now in a. better position than at the time when the postponement of the fixture had been suggested, and it was decided to fulfil the engagement. It was further decided to endeavour so to arrange the northern tour that the A Yell i ngton game would be played prior to the return of the team to Taranaki.

PROTESTS

A protest, received from the Okaiawa Club against Elthaan for playing H. AA'ills, an alleged senior player, in the junior game on July 17, was dismissed, it being held that Wills, had not played more than two senior games in competition fixtures. The. Tongaporiitu Club protested against the award of a penalty kick to Arwakino in tlie match played on July 3, a. Tonga.porutu player having been nenalised for having allegedly ibeen offside in his. own in-goal. The kick at goal had been .successful, with the result that the game was drawn. Air Tvrer pointed out that a. player could not be offside, in his own in-goal, and the protest, was upheld, it being decided to notify the Tainui SubUnion that the referee had been in error in awarding a free kick.

TRANSFERS.

The transfer of K. Aleu'i from the Ha.wera, to the. {Stratford Club was granted. An application for the transfer of Roy Penimll, of the Eltbam Club, to the. Stratford Club was refused.—lt was pointed out that, while Penniall had residential qualification in the Stratford district and employment qualification in Eltbam, lie had previously made his choice, and could not alter it during the currency of a season.

AYEDNESDAY COMMITTEE AFFAIRS.

The AA’ednesday Committee asked permission to play a. return match with the Central division At -an early date —if possible, on a Wednesday.— Tli e , matter was left to the respective committees to arrange. With reference to the report made hv the- referee of the Fraser Road v. City match on June 30, stating that he had ordered J. Nicholas icff the field for using insulting' language, a letter was received from .the Wednesday Committee advising that the matter had been .considered, and- the committee recommended that Nicholas be made to apologise to the referee in writing. The recommendation was approved.

CONFUSING COLOURS

The referee of the AA 7aimate-Ath-katic match at Hawera. on July 10 (Air H. A. Iv. McNae) wrote stating that as the. jerseys were of the sanfe colour it was almost impossible to. discriminate between players of the respective teams. As- tlie- colours iaf both had been registered with the union, he had no power to make either side change. It vas decided to request the Athletic Club to- arrange for a new .set of jerseys next- season.

GENERAL

As the first game of the junior championship Ipay-icif, 'Straifordi and Fraser Road, were drawn to play at Eltliam on Thursday. ~ Tine secretary of th»a Hawke’s Bay Union wrote, conveying the thanks of the team for the hospitality extended during the recent visit, the letter making particular reference to the courtesy extended by Messrs W. A. Guy and J. J. Goodwin. A donation of £5 5s was voted to the funds of *he 'cceiit Week for Empire held at Hawera. In response to an appeal from the Taranaki Circular Road Race Committee, a donation of £2 2s was granted .
