BAND CONCERT.

A BRIGHT PROGRAMME

A bright programme (advertised on page 4) has been arranged for the concert organised bv Miss Gwen Gibh-s on behalf of the Hawera Municipal Band, and which will be given m the Opera House oil Monday evening. So seldom of recent years has a dance- recital been given in Hawera that it is felt .that the items given by pupils of Miss Gwen Gibbs and Muss- Audrey Hughes-Johnson will prove a strong attraction, and, judging by the present state of the box plan, it is believed that there will be a full house. The first appearance in public, of the Municipal Auxiliary Band is attracting considerable attention, in view of the fact that the players—most- of whom wore beginners—only received their instruments a. few months ago. and their early appearance on the concert, stage is indicative of the ability and confidence of their conductor, Mild. C. A. Fox. In addition the senior band’s repeat performance of the descriptive military fantasia. “A Soldier’s Life” will he more than usually interesting, especially when it is remembered that this will lie the last occasion, on which it will be given by the band. The additional concert items are all particularly attractive. and will he given bv selected local artists whose work has reached a, high 'Stand ard.
