FLOATING TOYS.
To make floating toys you can use walnut shells or corks cut lengthwise, in halves. Make paper heads., paint them, and when they are dry fix them in slits in the bodies. Seeing that they are to float, legs for the ducks don’t matter very much, but it is fun to have them, and they look so real under the water. Cut them out of any bit of material and tie them on. with cotton through little holes in the shell which have been pierced beforehand. To make walnut shell ducks look very grand indeed, iiaint the shells with gold or silver paint. The swan would be still more lifelike with a white cork body. Chinese white in the tube in a paint-box would do very well, but it must be put on in a thick, smooth coat. Use very little water, none atall if the paint is moist, and put on another coat when the first is dry. Itis splendid fun to make a whole family of floaters.
