Oats are dull; milling 3s 6d to 3s Bd, feed 3s 3d. Barley, English 4s to 4’si Gel, Cape 3s 9d to 4s ; .potatoes, £ll 10s to £l2; onions, £lB to £l9. LONDON MARKETS. Received 11.25 a.m. to-day. LONDON, July 22. At the wool sales there was an average selection of merinos; irregularity continues, with frequent withdrawals. There was a good selection of crossbreds, for which there was better and more general competition. Prices were' slightly firmer for New Zealand slipes; Canterbury fetched 21d. For the Bradford market there was very little business. Quotations were firm and nominally unchanged. At the sheepskin sales, Australian clothing merinos were from par to five per cent decline as compared with June. For New Zealand's the average was five per cent, dearer. A feature of the sale was a keen American demand for all New Zealands, also best Australians The Home and Continental demands were indifferent, and many Australians were withdrawn. —Aus.~ N.Z. BURNSIDE SALE. DUNEDIN, July 21. At Burnside to-day sheep, store cattle and pigs were clearer, while fat cattle were cheaper. Eat Cattle. —Extra prime heavy bullocks realised to £23 I7s (id, prime heavy £l7 to £IS, medium £l3 to £ls, cows and heifers to £l3. Fat Sheep.—Extra prime wethers sold up to 425, prime 37s (id to 40s, medium 32s to 345, light 2(5s to 295, medium ewes 26s' to 23s Od, light ISs to 225. Lambs.—A few of the best lambs realised up to 265, prime from 26s 9d to 27s 3d and medium to 245. ANNUAL REPORT OF NEWTON KING, LTD. The balance-sheet of Newton King, Ltd., for the year ended April 30, 1926, shows that the net profit for the past year was £16,806, as against £23,882 for the previous year. Adding transfer fees £lO, there is a. total, oi £16,816, from, which must be deducted land and income tax £5314, leaving £11,502, to which must be added £219 brought forward, and making available £11,721. The preference dividend accrued to April 30, 1925, paid in December last, absorbed £11,342, and the balance of £379 has been carried forward. In their report the directors say: “Your directors regret that the amount shown to the credit of profit and loss account is sufficient only to provide for the income tax and! preference dividend for 1925. They wish to, inform you, however, that in view of the fact that there is a tendency in financial circles to regard the immediate future as a. period of uncertainty, they have deemed it* only prudent to subject- the assets of the company to a particularly conservative scrutiny, to endeavour t-o provide most fully for all likely contingencies.” The balance-sheet items, with those for last year in parentheses, are as follow: —Liabilities: Paid-up capital, £374,432 (£373,701); due to bank. £118,425 (£109,926); bills payable, £10,252 (£8906); sundry creditors, £84,403 (£77,127); vendors’ account, £90,814 (£78,624); reserve account, £750) (£7500); profit and loss, £379 (£219) Assets: Sundry properties,, £88,212 (£55,794); working plant, etc., £18,60S (£15,405); office furniture, £7192 (£7050); goodwill, £30,000 (£30,000); stocks, £109,761 (£106,514); shares and investments, £1065 (£1065); sundry l debtors £399,555 (£392,593); bills receivable, £31,116 cash and stamps, £696 (£554); total, £686,205 (£656R03). _____
