POWER BOARDS’ CONFERENCE
RATES OF SUPPLY OF ELECTRICITY. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, July 23. At the Power Boards’ Conference it was stated that it was understood that discount was allowed: to some- boaiids not supplied bv Alangaliao, and it was moved that the Government should extend the privilege to the Alangaliao boards . , Air. Kissel, chief electrical engineer to "the Public Works Department, said it was opening up a big question if the conlerence meant that the rates for the whole of New Zealand should be standardised, and that the cost of supply be the same for Alangaliao, Coleridge, or Horahora. The department would not be likelv to support it, as it was laid down that each scheme must stand on its own feet- and the accounts be kept separate. Some- of the contracts were made at widely diffeient periods and under different conditions. Air Ransom (Dannevirke) withdrew the motion and submitted the following: “That when the present contracts expire, all boards be placed on the same basis of supply.” This motion was carried.
