NATIVE LAND.
DEVELOPMENT PROPOSALS. (EY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) HASTINGS, July 23. A meeting of sixty native owners, held at Te Tin like, passed the following resolutions: “That the owners of Poukawa ate willing to have the land around Poukawa block, No 13, drained and made fit for occupation” ; “that the Native Trustee be respectfully requested to visit Te Hauke as soon as convenient, to discuss with the Poukawa committee, elected by the owners, the most satisfactory methods to adopt for the fullest development of Poukawa area.” The foregoing resolutions were placed before Mr. H. King, representing the Native Trustee, who expressed satisfaction at the forward step taken by the native owners. He felt certain the Native Trustee, who acted as a father to the natives, would: be able to assist them very materially by his guidance and practical help in making Poukawa what Tfe Haupuku wished it to be, “the source? of nourishment for you and you r children.”
