SPRING FLOWER SHOW. The third annual meeting in connection with the Kaponga, Methodist Spring Flower Show was held on Tuesday evening, when there were present: Rev. A. Blake,more (chairman), Mesdames A. Blake,more, P. H. V. Harding, L. Henry, N. C. Davies, A. Powell, C. Tonkin., Messrs J. J. Davison, C. Harding, S. Death, and N. C. Davies (secretary). The president’s report was presented, and showed that though unfavourable weather had been experienced for A, considerable period prior to the last show, conditions subsequently improved sufficiently to ensure a good entry — so much so that, in point of numbers and quality, entries constituted a record. The method of staging had been re-modelled and brought up-to-date, to the satisfaction of exhibitors, judges and the public. Li this connection the thanks of the executive wer e due to the Rev. W. W. Avery for planning, Mr H. C. Stanners for free labour,‘and Mr P. H. V. Harding for use of wood-working machinery. The show was favoured with fine weather ,and a flattering attendance, of the public. Exhibitors had expressed their satisfaction of the revised schedule of classes and the judging of all .sections. The general success attending the show was gratifying to the executive, whose thanks are extended to exhibitors, judges, stewards and donors. The balance-sheet for the year showed the total .receipts £69, expenditure £36, balance to credit of Church property fund £33. Officers for the ensuing year were re-elected as follows Patron, jMr Robert Gibson j president, Rev. A. Blakemore; vice-presidents, Messrs L. Abbott. C. E. Betts. J. J. Davison, D. Gibson and R. E. Williams (with addition of Messrs James Gibson and P. H. V.Harding and Dr. M. M. Hock,in); secretary and treasurer, Mr N. C. Davies; assistant secretary, Mr S. Death..
A general committee, consisting of all present- at the meeting, with the addition of Mesdames J. Guy and! W. E. Holland were, appointed to make preparations (including canvas for special prizes and advertisements for schedule) for the forthcoming isliow, which will be held on September 24. It was decided to revise the classes in the school section of the schedule. The secretary was instructed to thank Mr A. Chrysta), of Eltham, the first winner of. th e Hoekim Daffodil Cup, for his suggestion that, conditions Governing competition for the trophy he so altered that the latter becomes a challenge cup, to he held for 01m year by successive winners; PERSONAL. Mr D.C. Rawlinson is one of the latest victims of influenza, and at midday yesterday was compelled to ]xan<l over Tii.-s Kapong,a-H a\ve>ra. car 'service to Mr Robertson, of Okaiawa. Mr O. Paterson, the, well-known. Kaponga and representative Rugby threequarter, yesterday joined the, ever-in-creasing hand of benedicts. Mr J. McCarty sustained an < injury to a knee in the football match on Saturday, last, which will probably prevent him phvying again this season.
