LONDON, July 20. The Wesleyan Conference has decided to favour the admission of women to the ministry on the same terms as men, with the exception that, they must resign on marriage. One delegate asked why matrimony should cancel a call to the ministry. DELHI. July 20. The disturbances at Calcutta were renewed last night, when one person was killed and 25 seriously injured, three from gunshot wounds. Over, a hundred were arrested. NEW YORK, July 20. The western half of the United States, during the past 3G hours, lias been sweltering under an intense heat wave. This, was partially broken by rain on Tuesday, but there is a death roll of 20 as a, result of the heat. SYDNEY, July 21. The steamers Waiinarino and Joan Craig have been sold to a British company in China, and sailed for Manila under their new names of Kingsing and Heuli respectively. LONDON, July 21. A wonderful triumph over physical disability is represented in the production of three fantasies hv Mr C. R. Allen (a son of Sir Jamese Allen) at the Ert'inger Theatre. The playlets displayed marked originality and promising dramatic ability. They were well received by an appreciative audience and Mr Alien, though blind, helped to plan the scenery and costumes, and to select the company by touch and .listening to voices. H e attended rehearsals, moved about freely, and seemed to know and even see everything that was going on. He types all his own manuscripts.
