BURGLARY AT ASHBURTON

The second burglary within a week took place at Alan Wilson and Co.’s shop, where thieves forced the back window, taking 50s from a coat hanging in the shop also three shillings from the till and a- small quantity of cigarettes. RECORD-BREAKING COW. Gretta, a Friesian cow, is said to hold the record of being the best but-ter-fat producing cow under test in the Dominion for the 1925-26 season. Five years ago Gretta was sold to a butcher, but owing to being in calf, was bought by Robert Pryde of Mataura. She proved to be a- winner, her record for the season being 294 milking days, 15,1261 bof milk, 776.531 b butter-fat. Her daily average of milk is 511 b, and the averake test for the season was 5.06.
