FINANCING SOVIET’S PURCHASES.

A long-delayed agreement has been reached whereby a syndicate, of German banks, will finance the Soviet’s 1,000,000 marks purchase of factory equipment and vehicles from Germany for four years.

Herr Curtius, Alinister for Economic Affairs, told the Budget Committee that the scheme has been worked, out to improve the marketing conditions in Germany and to consolidate the,, Russo-German economic relations in accordance with the treaty. The Government- undertook to guarantee So per cent of the credits and the States Governments a, further 25 per cent. The Soviet refused the first offer, which involved II per cent interest. The banks have now agreed to advance 150,000,000 marks at 8j- per cent, the Government- at the last minute offering a 35 per cent guarantee.
