The New Zealand representative Rugby team to tour Australia was today defeated by Wellington representatives by 21 to 14. To say that the provincial team was superior to the Dominion representatives would be absurd, but the members played a sterling game. It was obvious that many New. Zealand players were not taking any unnecessary risks, in view of the important Australian tour. Tait, with the ball at toe, took play to New Zealand’s twenty-five, and from a scrum Tyree secured and scored. Malcolm shot wide. Wellington 3, New Zealand 0. Knight, with the ball at toe, took play to half-way, where Wellington were penalised and Svenson kicked a goal from inside half-way, the hall striking the bar and falling over. The only match, played yesterday un,dor the aegis of the, Mid-week Rugby Union was that between Fraser Road and City, interest in which was specially keen, because the former was the unbeaten team, and it was expected that City would run it very close. ' From ‘The outset the Fraser Road men. went -away with a, good dash, but City replied with a fine rush, and Goodwill, kicking well, gave Phillips, who followed 'up fast, an opportunity to get ■ -through, hut the defence' whs sound. July The New Zealand Rugby Union has received a telegram from the Bay of Plenty Union expressing dissatisfaction with the se’eaticn of the Maori

The Wanganui Union sent a strong protest against the methods of the Maori Board 1 in bartering with olio union against, another for matches. It was decided to inform nil. unions that the negotiations for matches must no through the New Zealand Union. Canterbury asked for a. match against
