PRESENTATION OF PRIZES. In presenting the prizes to winners of trophies in the Mangatoki Farmers' Union competitions, Air J. W. Deem said he would advise them to break up a small area of land, do it well, and be sure, not to break up.too much. He urged them to realise the value to he got. out of good pastures.. He congratulated the winners on their results in root growing, and urged them to still go on. The noteworthy point about the competitions was the improvement in crops generally, and he added that Mangatoki stood very high in the list of averages for South Taranaki. He then presented the prizes to the winners in the recent competitions, as already published. In addition there were three fine cups—Points prize, Air C. Brock; special -cups for south and north sides of Alangatoki (in mangolds and carrots), won respectively by AleGuinness Bros. and. Air T. Preece. During the evening an excellent programme of musical and elocutionary items was contributed by Alessrs G. Hessell, Burns, G. IT. Buckeridge, L. Pease, V. Powell (songs), and A. A. Piner (recitation). The singing of the: National Anthem concluded a very successful function.
