Once: more the dairy produce classes are ai feature of the llaw era Winter Slioav, the display of both .butter and cheese in the upstairs hall being attractively arranged and widely representative. Taranaki factories, notably Awatuna (J. Flavin, maker), have scoied heavily i-i the cheese section, although the consistently high quality of the entries has resulted in close wins. In butter, ‘Ma.na.watu and Hoiowhenua. exhibitors have taken the bulk of the awards, premier position going to Rangitikci (J. Smillic, maker), with l Levin, Golden Bay and Eangitaiki Plains also to the fore.

Members of the Government grading stall', who were entrusted with the work of grading, sum up their impressions in three sentences^—

“’The quality of the dairy produce generally shows an improvement on that of previous) years. The make is of a uniform character throughout, and the finish all that could be desired. Considering the prizes offering, however, it is somewhat disappointing that more, factories do not avail themselves of these competitions.”
