OPERA HOUSE, HAWERA. “THE DARK SWAN.” Beauty may be only skin deep, but, lacking that depth, many a girl has found her dreams of life crumble in the ashes of neglect. What happens to a plain-looking girl who refuses to let her lack of physical charm act as a detriment is shown in “The Dark Swan,” the screen version of Ernest Pascal’s novel, which opens to-night at the Opera House for a two nights season. The cast is headed by Monte Blue, Marie Prevost, Eelene Chadwick and Arthur Rankin. The supports are excellent. • mss MAE KINGSLEY. AT WINTER SHOW. Miss Mae Kingsley will again visit Hawera and give her unique exhibitions at the Winter Show. Miss Kingsley is making her last tour of the Dominion before her return to her native land, and her exhibition at the Winter Show should cause much attention. This talented girl’s exhibition will consist of manufacturing all kinds of glassware novelties from the raw material to the finished article, including birds, large vases, sailing sfcips, native animals, and a host of other articles. The large glass model of the Sydney harbour bridge, which is the work of Miss Kingsley alone, will also be on exhibition in her large building. Winter Show visitors should make it a point of seeing her at work.
