There were seven or more weddings in Hawera to-day. At yesterday’s meeting of the Taranaki Hospital Board (reports the Taranaki Herald), a letter was received from the secretary of the Hawera Board, pointing out, in 'reply to a request for a reciprocal arrangement, that the* difficulty fay in regard to Taranaki patients at Opunake and that district. Hawera was having difficulty enough in giving effect to the Taranaki board’s wishes in that no patients from that district he admitted to Hawera Hospital unless eases were urgent, and he felt sure that, were the 'restriction, under the Act removed, Hawera would receive a greatly increased number of patients from that district. It might be advisable to e nter into reciprocal, arrangements relating to patients otter than those coming from Opunake district. The chairman said it was a difficult matter to deal with, and apparently some people were under the impression that they con’d go to whatever hospital they liked, and did not know that tlieir local district hospital would have to pay.
