The weather was -nnosrt .favourable i n the early morning, but shortly after noon clouded over. The. caanp- consists of 20 officers and 282 other na.mk.s, and -with the men. are 173 horsies. The whole of the latter are housed, in stalks, while 68 tents are being used as the inen’isi sleeping quartern. The regimental hand, the headquarter® of 1 which are. ait. The first guard of twelve men. from Hetadquainteins, wiing—after receiving instruction from Sergeant Major C. S. Al'ahoney, was pasted) at 10.30' a.in. yesterday morning, being relieved .alter 24 hours by the guard supplied, by A squadron.. A sentry is placed lat the main gate, and another .guards, tine- orderly -room, which, together with the officers.’ mess and .sergeants’ mess, occupies the lower part of the. members’ istaind. The general mess- is) contained in the homo industries, pavilion, and the sleeping quarters extend in groups from the north of itlh© pavilion towards the. hack of .the ground's. Set out in neat lines, the tents have a bright appearance. Advice has/ been received that on Friday next, Lieut. Colonel J. H. AVhyte, D. 5.0., D.0.M., of the. Central Cbmirnaind, will inspect the camp, while on Tuesday, the. general officer commanding the New Zelaland Military Foirdes, Ahajon-Generail li. Young, 0.8., C.M.G., D. 15.0., .accompanied by Calomel-Cbm - mamdant 0. G. P'oiwles C.Ai.G., D. 5.0., A.D.O. officer iin ikairge. of the Centra! Command, will also make. a l ' inspection, and take a ceremonial march past review. On Friday evening the first- annual bail! of the. regiment will he held in the Wiinlter Show Hiaill. Special arrangements regarding arrangements and decorations .are being made, and music will be supplied by the. regimental band, which has in addition, to the ordinary hand instruments, a. full orchestra, at its. disposal. A fully stocked canteen is being conducted under the capable mia.nfagement of Bandsman Wamsborougli., together with other bandsmen, on. hehiailif of the regiment. The service has. been much appreciated and the patronage up to the present haw been excellent. Air. MoL’ Downey, on behalf of the Y.AI.C.A., has been in charge of the reading .moan , for which, liarge numbers of nnag|a«inesi and iperimJiiwales have been provided, and, with sing .songs; which have been arranged the. evenings here have, been pleasantly spent. The tup,pout,unity of taking 50 per cent, leave attracted 106 men into town last evening and a. number spending -the evening at the. AYomem’s National Reserve Charity .Ball, and other entertainments. The .service of hot suppers, was again extended last evening when members of .the Women’is National Reserve dispensed .refreshments at a, mi nimum .charge.
