(From Our Own Correspondent). , V ALEDICT'OR Y. A social event of exceptional local interest took place m tlie Parish Hall on Saturday evening, when a large number of well-wishers gathered' to bid farewell to Air and Airs F. R. Wi 1 - liams and family, who are about to take, up residence in Hawe/a. Card tables arranged round the hall provided occupation and amusement for a section of the assemblage, and about thirty couples took possession of the centre, dancing being kept up until a late hour. During the evening Air and Mrs Williams were presented r with a dinner set and sot of carvers. Mrs Williams was also presented with, a hand-painted vase, and Aliss Margaret and Master John Williams- each [received a handsomely-bound volume. The Rev. C. W. Solomon, in making the .presentations, referred in glowing terms to the worth of Air. and. Mrs. . Williams as- citizens, and, while voicing the general .regret- at their depa-r----tuio from Kaponga, extended to them the best wishes of the community for their future welfare. P.G. Bro. C. E. Betts, on behalf of. the Loyal Kaponga Lodge, of Oddfellows, At. IT., then presented P. G. Bro. Williams with a set of pines and conveyed to him the felicitations of the Lodge members. In acknowledging the verbal and tangible expressions of esteem for himself_ and wife. Air Williams said that the tinge of regret they felt in leaving the district was more than counter-balanced by the knowledge that all their efforts in the business and social interests of the town had been appreciated. They would always _ entertain a kindly thought for their many good friends in Kaponga. The whole of the social .and supper arrangements for the evening /were carried out by the members of St Marks? Ladies’ Guild. Airs I. E. Evans contributed the dance music. BALL AT KAPUNI. The ball to be held in the Kapuni Hall to-morrow night should attract a large number of dancers from Kaponga, for whose convenience the joint secretaries, Messrs G. Level and IN'. Ellison, have made arrangements with Air R. E. Williams to run his ’bus free of charge to and from the hall. PERSONAL. Miss Fioiulc, though still an inmate of the Kaponga Private Hospital, is making satisfacloiy progress towards recovery from her illness and recent operation. Air R. E. Coleman lias resumed duty at the Bank of New South Wales,, and Ali‘ H. McGregor, who relieved him, has returned to Feilding. His many friends will lie pleased to learn that Air S. Death is about again, after a somewhat severe attack by his old enemy, rheumatism.
