At the Supreme Court, John Kwert, who pleaded guilty to forgery at Pap-a-kura while an employee of a bank, was sentenced to be detained at AVaikeria for reformative treatment for a period not exceeding two yeans. Air Justice Stringer said; the prisoner was a young unmarried man, with a fair education and considerable' ability. He was in a position of trust and Lad received a substantial salary. He stole from his employers a considerable sum of money and fled from New Zealand with the proceeds of his dishonesty. His crime was designed and deliberately carried into effect by a very crafty forgery. MONEY BY VALUELESS CHEQUES. AUCKLAND, June 15. Probation for three years, abstention from liquor for that period, and restitution of £66, was the sentence passed by Mr. Boynton, S.M., on Percivaj Rhys AVingrove, aged 36, who pleaded guilty to obtaining money from various Auckland firms by pie ans of valueless cheques.
