MOTOR INTERESTS.
STRATFORD BRANCH OF S.T.A. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. Mr R. A. Masters presided over a meeting of the- Stratford branch executive of the South Taranaki Automobile Association on Friday, when many matters of interest to the district we're discussed. It was resolved to apply to the association for 70 more signs for dangerous bends and l for cross roads, and to recommend that these be painted) im red Imcause the white sign was not sufficiently conspicuous. It was resolved to again approach the Stratford Borough Council in regard to provision of camping grounds. An effort is to be made by the committee to have bad l sections of the main and by-roads improved. A supply of wind screen badges is to be procured for use of members. A recommendation is to be made to the central executive that all bridges on main roads be painted white' for the benefit specially of motorists from outside, and that- a danger sign l should be erected at the entrance to the El-th-am golf links. A suggestion was made that the Stratford Borough Council should have arrow signs painted at the intersections of all tarred streets.
The matter of traffic without lights, especially cyclists and motor lorries, was brought ut>, and members agreed that more vigilance bv inspectors was needed.
Approval was expressed of the mileage signs in South Taranaki, and it was decided to see if this could be extended to other districts.
