WEST COAST v. OTAGO GREYMOUTH, June 13. In a League football inter-provincial match, West Coast defeated Otago by 11 points to 8 after a fast game played in showery weather and in the presence of a large crowd. West Coast forwards, led by Mouatt and Wright, proved the stronger, having the better of the scrums and attacking more often. Otago’s two tries were due to good opportunist work by the winger, Hickey, who stood out as the best three-quarter, Cameron being the best visiting forward, and Eckoff the best inside back. Dodds and Oust were good inside backs for the West Coast side. In the first spell Hickey ran from half-way to score under the posts, but Eckoff missed an easy kick. In the s-ccnd half tries were got for West Coast by Kennedy from a passing bout, by Hansen from a further passing bout, and by Wright from Mouatt’s opening, Mouatt converting Hansen’s try. The lust score, was a try by Hickey with another run from half-way, following Yoiralli’s pass, Eckoff converting. QUEENSLAND BEAT NEW SOUTH .* WALES. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION--COPYRIGHT.
