TAUMARUNUI DEFEATS OHTJHiA. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) TAUMARUNUI, June 12. The first match of the season was played here to-day in fine weather, before a large crowd, when Taumarunui defeated Ohura by 6 to 3. The game Avas fast and exciting. For Taumarunui, Haclen scored and Lee kicked a penalty goal. For Ohura Koorey kicked a penalty goal. POVERTY BAY BEAT WAIROA WAIROA, .Juno 12. „ Povcrtv Bay defeated Wairoa (the holders of the Barry Cup) to-day in beautiful weather, and before a record attendance of spectators. The local team included the All Blacks Ncpia, C. Brownlie and Corkill, but the visitors Avere fitter and shoAved a better combination, eventually winning by 22 points to 8. /
