Alx l H. G. Dickie, ALP., has received word from- the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Prime Alimister, that arrangements are being; made to place 12- unemployed men in Hawera on road construction, the matter being now in the hands of the District Engineer at Wanganui. The Aloa Seed Farm, near Roxburgh, is to close down on June 30. Circumstances compel the committee of Dunedin residents which has been running the farm to hand it over to the Department of Agriculture, which, in turn, will place it. at the disposal of the Lands Department for soldier settlement purposes. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that a steamer is loading at Montreal in July for direct discharge at New Plymouth, but the company .is not in a position to give the, name of the vessel as vet.
