Leaving the road on the Waitotara hill, on. the Wanganui side of Waitotara ,a heavy motor truck crashed down the bank in sensational style on Saturday afternoon (says the Wanganui Chronicle). The driver was the owner, Mr W. Jarvis, of Maxwelltown. At one of the bends of the rather narrow road the vehicle failed to negotiate the turn, and ran down the hillside for 30 or 40 yards. The driver jumped clear, and was uninjured, hut the lorry was considerably damaged about the radiator and front wheels. It was later brought into toum. A live “selling force” controlled by a board of three members, comprising the Minister in Charge of Tourist Resorts and representatives of the Tourist Department and private interests, was suggested to the Prime Minister at Auckland on Saturday by a deputation from the New Zealand Tourist League as the best means of fostering the tourist traffic. The Prime Minister said that he was averse to making the country a, second Switzerland, and raised the question of accommodation. He said that the country would do itself a had turn if it attracted more tourists than it could provide fox.
