Entries were smaller all round than has lately been the case, but prices were nevertheless inclined to be easier. Fat Lambs.— Extra prime heavy lambs sold to 35s 7d; prime heavy, 28s 6d to 32s : medium-weight prime, 27s to 30s; medium quality, 24s to 26s 6d; light lambs, 20s 6d to 23s 6d. Fat Sheep. —Extra prime wethers sold to 40s Id ; prime, 32s to 35s 6d; medium 29s 6d to 31s 6d; light, 27,s 9d to 28s 9d ; extra prime ewes, 23s 6d to 275; medium. 20s to 235; light, ,L6s to 19s 6d ; aged. 13s 6d to 15s Bd. Fat Cattle. —For best Canterbury steer beet' prices ranged from 37s to 40s per 100' bs: North Island prime, 35s 6d to 37s ; medium quality steer, 34s to 36s 6d ; fair to good heifer, 29s to 325; inferior cow, 24s to 28s ; rough, down to 18s. Dairv Cattle.—The demand was good. Good second, third and fourth culvers, springing, made from £ll to £l4 ss; medium sorts, £7 to £lO 10s; othe-i s, £5 to £6 10s ; springing heifers, £6 10s tu £LI 15s; old cows, 255, to £2 15s. F a t Pigs.—Choppers, £3 to £5 10s; extra heavy baeoners to £6 ss; average price, per lb. 7-id to BJd. Light porkers, 46s to 52s : heavy porkers, 55s to 675; average price per lb 8d to 9d. FRIGES AT WESTFIELD. AUCKLAND. June 2. A,t the Westfield tsale there was a large vardiiaig of beef, consisting chiefly of row and heifer heel. Ox beef was very firm, hut cow and ’heifer was decidedly easier. Extra choice and prime ox made 31 s per 1001 b; choice land prime,, 27si to 30«; ordiirary and plain 23s to 265. Prime young cow and heifer beef, 24s ; oudimary, 18s to 21®; rough, 12s to 16s. Sheep.—A. large yarding, values feeing slightly easier to.wards the end of the sale. Competition was very slack. Heavy prime wethers, made £1 9s to £1 1J s; medium prime, £1 7s 6cl to, £1 8 s 6d; ismiall land unfinished £1 3s to, £1 4,5; best heavy prime ewes, £1 3 s to £l’ 4s 6d; medium . £1 to- £1 2s 6d; light and unfinished, 16s to 19s. Laanibis. —A smiaill yarding, prices 'being unchanged. Heavy prime lambs made £1 4s to £1 6s pnediium, £1 to, £1 3s ; light, 17s to 18s 6d. Pigs.—-A good yarding, prices being ,slightly easier. Official quotations are: — New Zealand—-Finest salted 168 s to 170 s per cwt (Is 6cl to Is 6Jd per lb), unsalted 170 sto 172 s (Is 63d to Is 6id) : other qualities, 150 sto 164 s (Is 4d to Is 54d). Australian —Salted 164 s to 168 s per cwt (Is old to Is 6d per lh), un salted 1.63 sto 170 s (Is 6d to Is 6id): other qualities (salted and tin sal tccl), 1445. to 160 k pei- cwt (Is 3Jd to Is sd). Argentine—Unsalted 150 s to 156 s per cwt (Is 4d to Is 44 d) ; other qualities, 144 s to 143 s (Is 3*d to Is SJd). Irish —Salted 164 s to 166 s to 163 s per cwt (Is 54d. Is 52d to Is 6cl per lh). CHEESE. Official quotations are: — Canadian Coloured and white (new). 83s to 90s per cwt (93d to 94d per lb; oo’oured (old), 104 sto 106 s (lid to 11 id • white (old). 104 s to 108 s (lid to Uid). Australian. —Coloured and white (in accordance, with size), 89s to 91s per cwt (94d to 9:fd p.-r lb). New Zealand—Coloured and white 92s to 93s per cwt (9!}d per lb). Shipments of New Zealand produce arrived this week per s.s. Turakina and Mamari.
