ENGINE-DRIVERS’ STRIKE
MINERS ARRANGING CONFERENCES.
BY CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION. -COPYBIGHT. • SYDNEY, June 2. A meeting of the Miners’ Dele gat.a Board at Newcastle decided to ask the central executive of the Miners’ Federation to arrange a further compulsory conference between representative* of the engine-drivers and firemen, colliery owners and miners to deal with the strike.
It is understood that some of the lodge representatives at the meeting advocated that the be given a certain time by which to end the .strike, and then the miners would resume work, but that this be' the last course to be adopted and only if no other solution was found. The Engine-drivers’ and Firemen’s Union have announced that there is no change in the position of the coal strike and unless the owners surrender, the men will refuse to return, as they are able to ’-emaiii on strike for at least five weeks longer.
