Featherston on a claim for £SO, amount due on shares. Judgment was given for the plaintiffs. The Kata Co-op. Dairy Company was charged with selling butter that did not comply with the regulations under the Food and Drugs Act, in that the company .sold butter for local consumption containing IG.G per cent, of water, the maximum allowed by the Act being. 16 per cent. The manager of the company gave evidence, pointing out how difficult it was to control the moisture in butter-making. In giving judgment the (Magistrate said he had worked out the value of the extra water included in the butter in the present ease, and found that the company had benefited by the error to the extent of between threepence and iourpenee per ICO lb of butter, so it could not be said that the company was making any profit out of the error. However, the law had to be respected and consumers protected, and the company would lie fined £1 and costs. A junior seven-a-side football tournament will lie held on the Domain on the King’s Birthday (to-morrow), commencing at 11 a.m. The winners hold the Morse Clip for twelve months and each member of the winning team receives a gold medal. The following is the draw for the first round: Meremere v. Waitotara, Whareroa v. Hawera City, Wa-verley v. Kanru, Hawcra v. Alton. Ohangai v. Patea, Whcnuakura v. High School, Tdkaora v. Athletic.
