BAN ON DANCING.

METHODIST CHURCH REGULATION. BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYBIGHT. BRISBANE, June 1. The General Conference of the Methodist Church of Australasia, discussed the question of dancing and kindred amusements. It re-adopted its ban against dancing, with this addition to the book of rules: “That instruction is further given that our Church buildings shall not be used for dancing, neither shall dances he arranged with) the object -of raising money for church -purposes.” This was adopted after a protest by Dr. Sugden that the carrying of the motion would cause a great dea] of mischief. It was a, mistake to try to prohibit one subject. If dancing were pro. hibited. why not gambling, card-plav-ing and theatre-going?
