There is a mild outbreak of diphtheria in the district at present (says the Stratford Post), a number of cases being in isolation at the hospital. There is really no cause for alarm, but at the same time residents ■would be well advised to have medical advice on the appearance of suspicious symptoms. as the disease may prove very troublesome if neglected. At the Master ton dog trials, which concluded on Monday, Air M. M. Sctott, of Hawera, in addition to the awards mentioned ye.tserday, secured as special Brizes a silver cup for best team of three dogs, oue heading and two h'Un.taways, and the trophy for runnerup for the president’s cup.
