SUPREME COURT.
SENTENCES AT WELLINGTON. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, May 25. At the Supreme Court at Wellington to-day, the following prisoners were sentenced by Mr justice Reed: Albert Graham Gleeson, on two charges of breaking and entering and four of theft: Herbert Gleeson, on two charges of breaking and entering and five of theft; Henry Thomas, on two charges of breaking and entering and seven of theft. All charges were admitted. Thomas was also charged with arson. All the offences were committed at Ormondville between Januarv and March. 1926.
The judge said, that the accused had terrorised the Napier district, burning and thieving. That sort .of thing must he stopped. and a sentence would be imposed that would act as a deterrent to those who might combine to fight against society. Each was sentenced to two years’ hard labour on each charge, sentences to he concurrent and to be followed by three years’ reformative detention.
Arthur Henry Chambers, for breaking. entering and theft at Levin, was ordered two Years’ reformative treatment. Alexander Sprat-ley Jolly, for onening a postal packet, was ordered three years’ detention in the Borstal Institution.
