OPUNAKE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) POWER BOARD. The annual meeting of the Opunake Power Board was held yesterday. Present Messrs. C. A. Trotter (chairman), J. Tosland, J. P. Burton, W. S. F. Chambers, E. A. Collins, and J. Hickey, with C. M. Stowers-Crowley (engineer), and J. N. Stephenson (secretary). Mr Trotter was unanimously elected chairman for the year. In returning thanks he said he had done his best in connection with the power scheme and would continue to do so in the future. He congratulated the members on re-election and extended a welcome to Mr Goodwin, the new member. Mr Goodwin thanked the chairman for the welcome extended to him, and congratulated the board on the sound progress made. Anything he could do to increase the progress of the board he would do, and lie hoped to work harmoniously with other members. GIRL GUIDES. A meeting of the local associatiou of tlio Girl Guides was held in the public library. Eighteen ladies were present and Mr Gorki]] (president) was in the chair. The following were elected an executive committee. Mesdames Edmonds, Soloman, Church, Preston and Hammond. Mrs Watt was elected secretary. D 1 STRIGT HIGH SCHOOL. The adjourned annual meeting of householders was hold in the school iast evening. Mr A. Hindi (chairman) presided. The headmaster (Mr W. H. Burgess) reported that the roll number was sufficiently large to increase the grade of the school, being now 36. The following committee was elected: Messrs A. Hindi (chairman), C. Cave, O. Webby (secretary), F. Davey, and A. Raynor, Dr. T. V. Watt, and Rev. J. Preston.
