SENTENCES AT AUCKLAND. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, May 24. At tho Supreme Court, Mr Justice Herdman sentenced Wiremir Ra'va, for forgery and uttering at 'l'auranga, to 12- months’ hard labour, to be followed by two years’ reformative detention, to commence at the expiration of three months’ imprisonment now being served. His Honour described the accused as a notorious thief. Charles Walsh, for false pretences at "Rotorua, received 12 months’ hard labour and two years’ reformative treatment.
In the case of Charles Henry Whitehead, who escaped 1 from Waikune prison, the judge said that he was another new arrival, who had got here last year. A month after h© arrived he was sentenced to two years’ reformative detention for breaking and entering. Three years’ reformative treatment were ordered, to be concurrent with the present sentence. Henry Patrick Moore, alias Paul Mercer, alias Charles Williamson, for breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime at Rotorua, was .sentenced to two years’ hard labour, to lie served, at the expiration of his present- sentence of throe months.
