Received 12.50 p.m. to-day. LONDON, May 19. Back to brightness is the most fitting term for London’s present outlook. Preparations proceed apace for the most brilliant season since the war. All signs, of the national strike have practically been obliterated. Experts say that the sun will he back on the job at any minute. Everywhere there is the cheeriest optimism. Business is commencing to boom. The approaching Derby is the first big popular event, anc! all turf, sporting and social fixtures will he carried out. The Australians, who have been unfortunate up to the present moment, are now coming into their own. The test matches promise to provide records, and the financial result of the tour is therefore assured. A Iwom is setting in in theatreland, and there are record hookings all round since the re ope ping of the theatres. Thousands of Americans and others are coming, and hotels have been hooked to capacity/
