Another expedition, under the eotninand of Lieut. Wade. the famous round-the-world airman, is being lilted aiwl is going by the iirst steamer through the Behring Straits. Lieut. Wade is taking three 'planes for u three years’ survey, by what will bo known as the American Arctic Expedition. The survey is liherahy backed by New York' millionaires. What is said to be really behind all this Arctic activity Is the feeling that some time in the near future iSteians,son’s dream of the use of \\ range! Island us a. half-way station, for airships from America- to .Europe will come true. Colonel Nobile’s ,airship could .safely make- the trip a dozen times in a year over the Pole and back. In fact the Italian commander, since his arrival at Teller, said that if facilities were available for a renewal of equipment, lie- would wel-come-sailing back again next week, as the easiest and simplest route for reaching his home in Italy.
