PERSONAL ITEMS.
Mr. F. W. Millar, general secretary of the Public Service Association, arrived in Hawera. yesterday, and -later addressed a meeting of local .members on the activities of the association. He left Hawera this morning for Wang-a-nui. Over 150 business men and friends assembled at the, Masonic; Hall-, Morrinsville, to bid fareivell to Mr R. N. Morpeth, who Avas for seA r era,li years accountant at the Bank of New Zealand there, and who has been- transferred to Hawera. The Mayor, Mr C. M. Cummer, presided. Colonel S. S. Allen proposed the toast of the guest, and the Mayor made a presentation to Mr Morpeth of a silver cigarette case and a wallet of notes. Mr iMorepe-th has taken a keen interest in outdoor sports, being a member of the- Morrinsville Golf Club, Bowling Club, and Rugby Union.
