NORMANBY.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TOWN BOARD. ' \I the last monthly meeting of the Norinanby Town Board, held last night, there were present: Cm C. J. Preston (chainnau), C. Coa<l, 1. TjLoa cl and P. beydon Cr Coud and the clerk were appointed to represent the hoard at a. meetmo- of the .Local Bodies’ Association at Fltham. It was resolved that the Town Board affiliate with the nssociatUSV Edward Me.Ewen applied for permission to erect a- signboard opposite his blacksmith’s shop.— Permission was o'ranled under the usual conditions. " The secretary of the Dance Committee wrote offering to make a donation of £2 towards the .cost of installing a sink at the Town Hall.—The matter was left with Crs T. Lloyd and P. Levdou and the board’s foreman to bring down a report at next meeting. Mr Peach waited on the board to •support, a letter Avrit-ten by Mrs F. Grant and himself complaining that water was being backed up on their properties owing to the flow of water being impeded through the culvert by the accumulation of silt on th« lov-ei side of the road. —The clerk was instructed to give Messrs Laurent and Stark notice to open up an outlet from the culvert through their property. The chairman reported that, m company with Cr C. Goad, he had met the District Engineer of Railways on the occasion of his visit to Normanby, on account of a complaint hv the Railway Department that stock allowed to wander at large in the township was a menace to the travel ling public.. A motion was carried that the railway crossing leading from Atkinson stieet to Wnilscourt Place he closed, this being the one about which most complaints were made. CEMETERY BOARD. At the monthly meeting of the Norma nbv Cemetery Board, great indignation was expressed by members at the wanton desecration of graves by some miscreants at present unknown, no less than 26 concrete knobs having been deliberately broken from the kerb ingis around several of the graves. The hoard decided to offer a reward of £/> for information that would lead to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for the damage. The Cemetery Committee were instructed to see Messrs Jones Bros., monumental masons, in regard to the repairing of the above damage.
