STAR SPORTS EDITION

- * ALL THE DAY’S RESULTS. FULL football and racing REPORTS ON SALE IN OUTER, CENTRES. All Saturday’s sporting news on Saturday—that is what is available to the public in the Hawera Star sports edition, published jby eight o’clock every Saturday evening. Think what it means. There are six senior ltugby matches played in Taranaki most Saturdays. No follower of -the game can attend more than one of these; and hitherto the enthusiast, has hoped for no more on the day of play than his view of one match and the bare results —at most —of the other five. He has had to wait until Monday for any idea of the swing of play in games other than that which he witnessed. Now, thanks to The Star sports edition, players and spectators alike may have full and accurate reports of all six games within little more than three hours from tlie call of time. And this privilege is not confined, to readers in Hawera. So cordially was the initial issue of The Star sports edition received by the sports-loving people of the district last week, that arrangements have been made for the sale of this week’s, and all subsequent issues, in Eltharn, Kaponga, Manaia, Oltaiawa, and Opunake, as well as at conveniently situated points in Hawera.

Nor is it only Taranaki senior football that is covered by this latest news service. Every junior and lower grade Rugby match played in South Taranaki, every Soccer match, every hockey game, will be reported by The Star on the day of play. Also —and this will be appreciated by those who are closely interested in other parts of the Dominion —Rugby, Soccer and League results from the cities and leading provincial centres will be printed every Saturday. Up-to-the-minute racing news will be a feature of the paper, which will present, every Saturday evening, full results of that day’s New Zealand meetings, wherever held. This week, the second day’s racing at Wanganui will be covered by a special report, descriptive of the running and indicative of the form of the horses engaged. In addition, the racing page will include each week a budget of general turf news, dealing with some of the more fascinating aspects of the sport in New Zealand, Australia and Great Britain. Naturally, the general news section of the sports edition will give prominence to the progress of the Australian cricket tour; but other summer games will not be overlooked, and readers who are bowlers, tennis players or track ath-r lcteg may rely upon finding comment of peculiar interest. Star readers who live beyond reach of the sports edition may rest assured that their interests are being fully protected. All current sporting news, Comment as well as results, will be published in Monday’s Star, as hitherto. The sports edition is a special paper printed. to fill a special -want. It is quite distinct and quite different from the ordinary Saturday Star, and its publication does not rob Monday’s Star of one line of spofts news.

But to those within reach of any of the distribution centres named in. the advertisement on our front page today, The Star now offers all the day’s sporting and athletic news on Saturday evening. To be sure of a copy of the sports edition, patrons should place their orders early.
