WANGANUI SESSION. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WANGANUI, May 17. In the Supreme Court trial of William Spurway, aged 65, on a charge of indecent assault on a femate, the jury failed to agree for the second time. The Crown Prosecutor is communicating jvitfo the Attorney-General to ascertain what steps shall now be taken. SENTENCES AT CHRISTCHURCH. CHRISTCHURCH, May 17. In the Supreme Court the following prisoners were sentenced; Frederick William Whittington, aged 44, common assault, admitted to probation for two years; Robert McElwhinney, breaches of the Bankruptcy Act, reformative treatment for three months 5 Eric Donald Ross, solicitor, theft of £365 from a Timaru legal firm, reformative treatment for twelve months.
