Cattle, licensed by the Manaia Town. Board to graze on its streets and found straying on the Hawera County roads, were the subject of charges laid against three Manaia residents at the Magistrate’s Court to-day. In view of this being the first case of that description, Mr J. Houston, counsel for the Hawera County Council, asked for the eases to be withdrawn, but hoped that the proceedings would be a warning to residents of Manaia in the future. He agreed that it was possible th e oatt’e might have been picked up by a- mob being driven and taken along to an adioiiiine county. The two local bodies intended to confer together on the matter. (
