HOSPITAL BOARD.

TO-DAY ’ S MEETING. At the meeting of the Ha-weria Hospital Board thi-s .afternoon, a statement of la-counts, which was isub-mit-ted ,showed that the hospital debts were £7172 9is lOd, the pricipal items being fees owing on March 31, £65/7 18s lOd, .and hospital patients charges in April £559 18s 6d, Old People’s Home debts £22 18s 2d, and -sanatoria and other ho-spita-l debits £1202 2s 9d; total, £8397 10s 9d. The ere,elite in fees recovered and £22 9s 6d in fees written off land discounts allowed. —The statement of accounts was adopted. The -Charitable Aid officer’s report stated that she had -paid 15 visits to individuals and three other visits in connection with relief cases. She had also investigated twenty accounts in Hawera and district. —Adopted. The Matron’s! report on the Old People's Home islta-ted- that there were eleven men in the institution. Donations had been -received from the Park Bowling 01-uib (cakes), Messrs Shurroctk -and Elliott (fruit), and Mesdanies Travis and Andrews (papers). During the month a concert was given by Mesdames White and Loader. • Adopted. The report of the farm manager gave the folio-wing details of the produce supplied: Milk 382) gallons, vegetables to the value o-f £l3 1/ s. Adopted. CORRESPONDENCE. The Matron of the Old People’s Home .applied for extra ass-i-stance. Upon the motion of Mr. Tayler, seconded by the chairman, it was decided to leave the matter to Mr. Wills -to inquire and to report. Mr. F. -S. Hodson, baateriolist atthe New Plymouth, HptspitaJ, wrote in respect to ia< ■ visit by the chairman to the New Plymouth Laboratory. —Mr. Campbell to act in the matter. A letter was received fro-ni the matron recommending the appointment of Miss/ Elizabeth Rruntcm to the vacant, sister.ship.—Approved. The honorary medical staff wrote asking that an accesispiy operating theatre /be included in. the new hospital ,to be used for minor surgery, septic cases, or for use while the main theatre wiais being cleared, after major operations.—Agreed to.
