OPERA HOUSE TO-NIGHT. “HE WHO GETS SLAPPED ’ ’ With a big circus for background, and a tragic tale of a brilliant scientist who becomes a nameless clown through the batterings of Eate for its theme, “He Who Gets Slapped" is entertainment novel and satisfying. Its personnel includes big names—Victor Seastrom, director, and Lon Chaney, Norma Shearer and John Gilbert featured at the head of an excellent cast with Tully Marshall, Marc McDermott, Ford Sterling and Clyde Cook. “He Who Gets Slapped ” is a Metro-Goldwyn production). coming to the Opera House tonight, in which tragedy 4 tlirilb love and laughter are well proportioned. It is the sincerity that shines through every scene, in every act of the players, and sensed in the direction, that makes “He Who Gets Slapped" a truly great picture. One leaves it with a mental desire to thank somebody for the hour of well-wrought, wholly satisfying entertainment the picture gives. The box plan is as usual.
