OBITUARY.
MRS GANTT. It is with regret that- we record tEe death of Mrs. Ganty, aged oO years, wife of (Mr. Richard Canty, of South Road, Hawera. Deceased, who had been an invalid dor a number of years, ■was well known hncl respected throughout Hawera. and district, having at ope time lived in the Waver ley district. She leaves a husband and four feons to mourn her loss, the: sons being Messrs. Orlando and Bert (Hawera), George (Wellington), and Con (Royal Navy, now home on leave). The funeral took place at Hawera to-day. DR. H. R. SLOAN. The many friends of Dr. H. R. Sloan, who was for some years in practice in Hawera, will regret to hear of his death in Auckland. Dr. Sloan was in his younger days a keen athlete. He wa's a member of the congregation of St. John’s Presbyterian Church, and was at -on© time on© of the managers of the clnirchTlLi He left Hawera to do post-graduate/' work iii Glasgow, later resuming nrac^ tic© here, and then going to Auckland. He h'.id heen in failing health during the past few months, a.nd his death was, to some extent, anticipated. MRS WEBBER. The death of Mrs. Matilda Webber, at the age of 86 years, took place at her residence, New Plymouth, recently. Mrs. Webber,'.who was the relict of the late Mr. William Webber, was an old and respected resident of New Plymouth. She was a native of Devonshire, England, arriving in New Zealand with her husband by the Mataura in the year 1874. He was a ropemaker by trade, and shortly after his arrival he established a rope-walk in New Plymouth, and there carried on his trade until his death, now many years ago. Mrs. Webber was widely known, and was highly respected anil loved by all who knew her. Her death is mourned by a large family circle and her many friends and acquaintances. She is survived by a family of eight- children, all of whom were present at her passing. The members of the family are: Messrs William and James Webber, of New Plymouth; Air. Albert Webber, of Hamilton ; and Mr. Charles Webber, of Auckland; Mrs. Annie Kisby, Auckland; Mrs. Emilv Howell, New Plymouth; Mrs. Louisa Taylor, Auckland; and Mrs. Jessie Thrush, Okaiawa. There ai-e also surviving 3f> grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
