FIREMEN IN DANGER.

F LIMES IN BRANDY VAULTS. FOUR MEN UNCONSCIOUS. LONDON, April 19. Four firemen were- rendered unconscious and many were affected by fumes during a fire in underground brandy vaults in Tooley Street. The smoke was so dense that very powerful electric lights had to be hastily installed, while the firemen, even though working in smoke-helmets, were able to remain in the vaults only a few minutes. This outbreak followed five fires in London back streets since last night, while there have been an unusual number throughout London during the last few weeks. It is believed that many have been due to lighted matches or paper having been flung in windows and doorways.
