hall scheme discussed. COMMITTEE APPOINTED. Tlie re was a fair attendance of residents of Tokaora present at the meeting convened to consider the question disposal of funds held, which were raised witli the object ol building a hall Mr. Standish was voted to'" the cliair, and Mr. Francis acted as lion, secretary for the meeting. As the outcome of the meeting, a committee and trustees were appointed, and it was decided to make exhaustive inquiries as to a site for a hall aud get estimates for its erection. ■Ur. Francis explained that in 192122 aii effort had been made by means of subscriptions and proceeds of dances and the amount in hand raised. Trouble arose over the site and the question fizzled out. The amount was left in the hands of Mrs. Francis, and now she wished to have it put in the bands of trustees. The meeting had to consider whether to build a hall or to drop the. scheme. In reply to Mr. Tibbett, the chairman said'that a scheme had been set on foot and had made good headway, but the promoters could not agree oil a site, and consequently the moveincut lapsed. Ur. Banks said trouble arose as to where the hall should he built. The committee was entitled to the whole of the money, and he was sure all would support the scheme if a forward move were made.

Mr. Francis said tlie amounts were mostly donations given and proceeds of socials. Mr. F. Mills had been chairman, and Mr. Freyne secretary, but there had been no hall committee elected. . . Air. Tibbett said that the position was sound and they could now go ahead and consider a scheme. Ur. Thrush said there was no doubt the hall was wanted badly, because the '•ocials held interfered with the school work. He would like, however, to have seen more present. Mr. Banks believed the hall could be built by tlie settlers themselves, and that manv would give their services and provide labour and cartage. They should go ahead and get estimates of material. He proposed that they form n hall committee of .seven, with power to add. Mr. Schmidt seconded the motion, which was carried. The following were elected: Messrs Thrush, Tibbett Banks, Schmidt, Standish. Freyne, and T Bollond. H was agreed that three members of the committee he a canvassing committee. to test the feeling of the people and see what financial .support could be secured. Tlie three elected were: Messrs Banks, Freyne, and Schmidt. Messrs Tibbett, Banks, and Standish were appointed trustees to take over the funds in hand. . . Ur. Tibbett said the question of site had been the stumbling block from tlie beginning, and he would like to see it settled. . The chairman said that would be a matter for the committee to inquire into. , . ~ Some discussion took place- on the question of freehold or leasehold, and tlie- feeling of the meeting was strongly in favour of securing a site of their Mr. Tibbett said that some hall committees had experienced much trouble to keep things going, and building a hall was not the rosy proposition it looked. He considered they must get a freehold site. Mr. Francis said they had been advised by the Department that no education reserve could be used for the purpose . Mr. Banks said they must interview the owners of land in the vicinity and see if it were not jxissible to get. a site. They must know they had a site before canvassing. One competent carpenter to direct building operations would he sufficient if the fanners provided the rest of the labour. 'l'lie chairman said all these matters would have to he settled by the committee before another general meeting was called, when the position could he put before settlers. A hearty vote of'thanks was carried bv acclamation to Mrs. Francis for lookino- after the funds all these years, and lC vote of thanks to the press and to tlie chairman concluded a good and useful meeting.
