MANAIA.
(From Gur Own Correspondent.) The Waiokura tennis ball held last evening in the Manaia Town Hall, fa spit© of the inclemency of the weather, was fairly well attended. Elvery detail in connection with the function was well carried out. First-class music was supplied by the Sierena dens’ orchestra and extras were played by Mr Gilmonr. The floor was in capital order. The duties of M.O. were ably carried out by Mr. Rangi Katero. The supper was in the hands of the ladies’ committee, comprising Mesdames Ware, Spence, lliangi, Tommy and Isaac Rtei, and Misses Rei, was of the best. The following were the men’s committee: l Messrs Tonga Tula, (president), T. Rei (secretary), Spence Rei (treasurer), Ware and Rangi R|ei, and Tauranui.
FOOTBALL. A match wtais played a-t Opunake on Tuesday between Wan’mate and Oeo Maoris v. O'puna-ke Maoris, and resulted in a win for Waima.te and Oeo- by 16 points to nil. The following ©cored for the winners: T. Rei (2), one which lie converted; Pa rata- potted a goal, Rangi Hikaka .and Tonga Tuki scored a try each. A .return match will be played at Mianai-a next Wednesday week.
