Despite the very unfavourable weather conditions the series of matches eel. down for Wednesday were played and three good contests were seen in the various centres. The result to date is that City and Eraser Road have both <two wins. CITY (ill) v. OHANGAI <S>. Although weather conditions were against good football some fine forward and hack work was witnessed, especially among ithe City backs, -for whom Hall played an outstanding game. Ohaingai won the toss and played u.p field. City soon had Ohangai defending its line —Ohangai forcing (several times.. From midfield, play. Loader gathered up and sent to Goodwin and Norris, Hammond finishing :t off with a, good try, which Loader converted. From this play was i'a.sb up and down field, and City again had Ohangai defending. From a loose dribbling rush Komis followed up fast and scored. Loader took the kick, which was unsuccessful. This seemed to rally Ohangai, and they soon had City defending to a man. until Hall relieved with a fine line kick.
In the second spell Ohangai at once -set the .pace, which was kept up until a few minutes from time. .Hall was Having in fine style; play being confined to the twenty-fives. Hogan got over and Lee took the kick, which was unsuccessful. C'lity once more had lai say in the .matter and from good hack play Norris again scored, Loader’s kick hitting the uprights. Play from this on was fast and interesting, Ohaingai coming with great speed, with (the ball at their feet. HalL saved with a good mark, and at once relieved the pressure. At this stage of the game a, City player got off-side. Hunt took the kick from midfield, but was unsuccessful. Ohangai took play to City’s line and from a loose scramble Hogan gjbt over, Hunt converting. The game ended with the score I.l—S. Mr. K. McNae ably controlled the game.
FRASER. RiD. (16) v. NORMANDY (3)
Playing on its own ground, Eraser Road had a win by a good margin over Nortmawby in a game that, marked mostly by forward play, wlais a. hard struggle for victory on both tides. The Borne forwards played a great game and heat their opponents on most occasions. They followed lip fast and had also an advantage in the serums. Their score was made up of tries scored by Johnson, Notman, and Hepburn, two being converted by P:ohi and Taniwha, while a penalty kick was also successful. Nonmanby’is only score was a. good try by Duggan, which was not converted. Mr. J. Kil.ev was referee.
TAKAORIA (9) v. WHAREROA (3). Playing at AVilnaroroa. the visiting team proved too good l'or its opponents. the local team, and after a. keen struggle, marked by many passages ol good play, forward and black, .scored a win by nine points to three. Tries were scored for the winners, by Wells,! Mundy and Griffin, and for Wharema by Thomlinson. None were converted. In the first spell Taka ora, by fine forward dashes, scored twice, neither being converted, but in the second play was much more even and lai try, unconverted, bv each team were the only scores.
