GIRL GUIDES.
HAWERA TROOP. ENROLMENT COMMENCES. A start was made yesterday afternoon with the enrolment of members for the proposed Hawera. troop of the Gill Guides. Despite the inclement weather, an encouraging number of girts put in an appearance at the meeting of the ladies’ committee,, and there is every indication that the troop will be well supported. A further meeting is to be held in the Borough Council Chambers at four o’clock to-morrow afternoon, when the Mayoress (Mrs. P'acey) will preside, and the work of enrolment will be continued. Arrangements will be made then for the visit of Lady Marjorie Dalrymple and Ylns. Hodi.son (Taranaki Commissiotier of the movement) to Hawera on Tuesday next. It is hoped that all ladies and girls interested wall attend to-monrow’s meeting. Under present arrangements, Lady Marjorie Dalrymple and. Mm. Hudson will arrive from the north at about six o'clock on Tuesday evening, and must leave again at mid-day on Wednesday, but it hoped to arrange for them to meet as many as possible of those interested, either on Tuesday evening or Wednesday forenoon. Meantime, prospective Guides, if they will be unable to attend to-morrow’is meeting, should hand in their names to some member of the ladies’ committee. Mrs. John 1 Houston is secretary.
