ARAB STOWAWAYS
EIGHTEEN STILL MISSING
BY CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPYBIGHT.
PARIS, April 29. Eighteen Arab stowaways on the steamer Sidi Ferruch are still missing. It is believed that 48 embarked at Algiers, of whom 17 are unhurt, two are in hospital, and 11 are dead. The authorities have forbidden the sailing of the vessel until it has been thoroughly searched. Three stokers are alleged to be responsible for the tragedy, as they must have known that the , ballast was liable to be flooded in the event of a displacement of the cargo.
