TRADE FACILITIES.
GUARANTEES TO SHIPPING COMPANIES.

LONDON, April 28. It is announced that the Treasury is giving the following guarantees under the Trade Facilities Act: — The Shaw, Savill Company £675,000, in aespect of the construction of two vessels, one at Cyde and one at Wallsen d. The New Zealand Shipping Company £400,000 for a vesseL now building on the Clyde. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line £600.000 for two vessels.
Messrs Levin and Co. advise that the two Sh:a,w, Savill. vessels subsidised are two .moitor-ships for New Zealand trade. These .are to be each of approximately 20,000 tons gross burden, will have a. speed of 17 knots, and will be capable of making the journey from New Zealand to .England (via Pianaima) in 30 days. A new feature, so far as the Shaw, Savill Company is'concerned, will be that the vessels 'will carry two classes only—just saloon and third —accommodation being provided for 240 saloon and 700 third class passengers. In the saloon section] will be 12 cabins de luxe with private sitting rooms, and 51 single berth cabins, many of which will have private bathrooms. The numerous and adequate public utilities provided will include' a verandah cafe and a swimming hath, and generally the new liners will be the most magnificent and luxurious in the Southern, Hemisphere. They will be completed by the end of next year, and should be available for the heavy traffic season, between March and May, 1928.
