The e*chr© party and dance held last Tuesday night had a very iau attendance, the .prizes 'being won by Mils. Hiardaker and Mr. J. battiei. A titer supper had been handed around by the committee, dancing was kept going till midnight, Mr, Dempsey and Mr. ModandJiish supplying first-class music. .. , . There was a large muster ot residents of Rowan and all surrounding districts at Mr. J. battler’s residence oil Wednesday evening, the main object of the gathering being to give Mr. and Mrs. battler a good rally with the tins on. their return home from their honeymoon. After the kerosene tin band had been on .the march -around the house for a. few minutes, Mr. battier (appeared on the verandah and invited one and all into the house to enjoy them.sel.ves. Mr. Dempsey asked the gathering to drink to the health of the bride and bridegroom. Mr. Saltier responded. The crowd was kept merry by dancing. Many songs, Highland danQes, Irish jigs, and items or bag-pipe music were given at intervals between the dances, all receiving wellearned encores. During the evening the men responded very readily to a collection Which was"made, and with the amount collected a very handsome present will t>e 'bought (for jVLr. &utl Mrs. battler. This will show that the crowd appreciated the good time given to it. By the joining of .hands and singing of “Auld Dang Syne” a most enjoyable evening was brought to a close in the early hours of the morni n.cr. Everything is well in hand for the errand hall to be held here on the 30th, fn aid of the local Tennis Club. The committee is sparing no pains to make this function a success. The waltzin<r competition will be judged by Mr. Percy Healy,. of Stratford. Has judg ing has always found .favour amongst the dancing fraternity. A. good programme has been arranged, and, with supper, musio and floor of the best, patrons can look forward to. a really good night.
